bug in {blue}

I've really been enjoying the simple photo collages I see on some photography blogs. I thought about purchasing an action that will accomplish this in photoshop but I decided to try and learn how to do it myself, plus the hubby has put a freeze on my spending this month...darn. This is just a simple one and hopefully I'll figure it out in more detail but I do like it simple and not overloaded. I hope you all don't mind more pictures of little bug. He is really photogenic lately and sometimes my only willing subject..ha.

I've been getting alot of questions about my post processing lately. In addition to making adjustments I have been using alot of the eye candy actions by Sheye Rosemeyer, an unbelieveably wonderful photographer, her images amaze me! All the layers are fully adjustable (a must in my book) and the actions allow you total control over your image. I LOVE action recipes but I still like my photos to hold my style and these absolutely are the real deal, they completely rock!

I captured this while my daughter was playing at the park, I love when she is just a bit flushed in the cheeks from playing and her hair is wispy from the wind. This is one of those captures when my daughters beauty is the most nature and stunning to me. If you click to make the picture larger you will see that she is developing freckles...I absolutely adore it!

{little} bug

Okay, I can't believe I pulled this one off. Little bug is the lightest sleeper ever! No kidding, a creek in the door wakes him up...imagine what a house with a teen and 3 preschoolers does for his nap time....yep. Anyways, I captured this image just after the actual 'photo shoot' we had. I guess I must have tuckered the little guy out with all of the crazy antics I used trying to get him to look at the camera. I will forever cherish this image, not because I actually captured him sleeping and the sound of my shutter didn't wake him, okay sort of for that reason, but most of all because he is simply precious...

p.s. I am going to work on a black and white conversion example to show you all...I feel a bit crazy giving advice but if your all willing to hear it...I'll dish it!

I absolutely adore black and white conversions. When I first started processing I thought a conversion was simply clicking a button and you were good to go. I have since learned alot and have been playing with my conversions to try and avoid the 'grey' skin. What I have found is that I love high contrast and that I like my black and whites to start out overexposed a bit and shadows bumped up before I desaturate them. I also like a hint of chocolate added. I think I have finally figured it out with some help from action recipes. Here's the lovely N in my favorite BW conversion to date...

As you know, I have been having a hard time capturing a smile out of our little J-man when he sees the camera. I've been making the mistake of prompting him which has resulted in the full ,show your teeth, my mom is making me smile grin. He is normally full of smiles....so, I just put a sheet over a couch and let him jump. At last, I captured the real deal, here it is...

I saw this fence along the side of one of the roads that leads to our home...



This long fence runs the entire length of my sister in laws home. There are usually a bunch of cows in the field but not today (wouldn't that have been perfect, to see a cow peaking over the fence!)...




Lastly, this old stove is sitting out by the barn. I think it's probably vintage with a touch of rustic. I love this picture and think there are so many ways it could be post processed to look cool. But this is what I had in mind when I took it...

My new camera is here!!! These are a few shots from yesterday as I was tryin' her out. I purchased this from my online instructor Christi, so considering where it came from I am most certainly not doing it the justice it deserves but hopefully someday....

I also dug in a bit deeper with Photoshop CS4 in these images, trying to learn some new processing and find my 'style'. I'm always open to suggestions so let me know what you think :)

Oh, almost left you hangin'...it's the Canon 5D with a new 24-70mm f/2.8 lens... wooohooo!

This is my sweet niece A. She has the most beautiful deep brown eyes. This was taken in my dining room during early evening. The room was very dim and I loved how the Natural Light just lit up her face.

macho man {leading lines}

Here's an example of leading lines. This photo is of my oldest son I. The original idea for this image was to capture the rails (lines) leading you into him.
We ended up capturing a bit more than we thought..He is very active in sports and has always held onto the number 8 for his uniforms. I loved that he had on this shirt for the photo, it really gave an average photo alot of meaning for us.
It also makes me think of when I was a teen...ready to take on anything! No worries, there was no train in site and he was just flexin' :)

Here is my shot(s) of the week. Actually, these are just a few of my fave's from a photo shoot I did last weekend. My good friend asked me to take pics of her girls. Both are lovely, I loved how K's eyes were crystal clear in the first one and E's fun shoulder pose in the second. It was great practice for me and we had a blast! I'll be posting the rest soon! you capture {spring}

The theme this week at you capture is spring. This was so much FUN! It really made stop to enjoy the beauty of the season. Photography has really taken me to a new place, it's like I see art everywhere.

AND my favorite part about Spring...the kiddos can play outside!!!
